CD Markers

CD markers, also known as CD antigens, are specific types of molecules found on the surface of cells that help differentiate one cell type from another. CD markers are important for cancer diagnosis and treatment.

  • CD8 stabilizes the interaction of the T-cell antigen receptor (TCR) with major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I/peptide. Cytotoxic CD8+ T cells of the adaptive immune system are the most powerful effectors in the anticancer immune response and constitute the backbone of cancer immunotherapy.
  • CD33 along with CD123, CD44, CD174 are markers for Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), which is a common hematological malignancy. Anti-CD33 product, gemtuzumab ozogamicin, was approved in 2000 as the first anticancer ADC on the market.
